It has taken me a while to realize it, but the single most important thing I do each day isn’t taking meetings, sending emails, or even writing — it’s reading.
So important. I believe one of the reasons why people get outdated, is that they get caught up in email and meetings all day. If you’re unable to consume new information (read: read), you’ll eventually lose your relevance. Read, and write to synthesize your thoughts. While I’m not the best on the matter yet, I strive to always spend at least an hour a day reading and writing.
