more efficiency of using things means we need less stuff. Needing less stuff means that the amount of stuff we make (and sell) will decline a lot. This doesn’t just go for cars (self driving cars / uber = we need less cars = less revenue for car companies)… once we get autonomous delivery right the whole ‘cash’ economy should shrink
Totally agree. It will be very interesting to see where these low-skill workers will go / what they will do. Self-driving cars and drones means that both cab drivers (thereunder Uber/Lyft) and delivery truck drivers will become obsolete. Fewer cars/items means less manufacturing jobs – and I foresee an undesirable future in countries with poor wealth redistribution.
